Newberry National Volcanic Monument is a fabulous place to play. Hike, swim, sight see, picnic, relax, or buy a fishing license to catch Brown and Rainbow Trout. Paulina Lake set the 1993 state record with a 27-pound German Brown Trout! Obsidian Flow Snow Tours

Obsidian Flow Snow Tours offers expert-guided, small group snowmobile tours departing from Ten-Mile Snow Park near Paulina Lake. They customize your tour depending on experience level, knowledge of the area and comfort level. We highly recommend their guided tours for beginners and experts alike! They have some of the best, local guides who have been riding snowmobiles for decades and are extremely familiar with the mechanics, variations, flow and techniques, and also know the area incredibly well. The world-class views in the Newberry Caldera area are incredible. Obsidian Tours is the only business with a special permit from the USDA Forest Service to operate and offer snowmobile tours in this National Monument, less than 15 miles from the Homestead Lodge. Unlike renting snowmobiles, no need to haul or gas the sleds. Just show up, with more time to play and enjoy the experience. Paulina Falls

Named for Nez Perce Chief Paulina, the falls are easily accessible by car, just 20 minutes from DiamondStone. 541-383-5300.


Quail Run Golf Course

DiamondStone is adjacent to one of the best Championship 18-Hole Golf Courses in the Northwest. It’s the second toughest rated golf course in Central Oregon. Lava Lands Visitor Center

Lava Lands Visitor Center hosts Lava Butte, formed by the volcanic eruption nearly 7,000 years ago, towering 500 feet above the center with over nine square miles of lava field. Oregon Route 372 makes nice loop routes through unique geological features, plentiful with Cascade Mountain trailheads to hike, and lakes to boat or fish, some with restaurants for a gourmet burger or to sip margaritas. Oregon Outback/Fort Rock State Park

Fort Rock is an amazing site to explore, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption underwater 100,000 years ago. Central Oregon then was an expansive inland freshwater sea, up to three hundred feet deep, the result of melting glaciers. 1938 archaeologist L. Cressman found sagebrush bark sandals illustrating a native culture thrived there, waterside, 9,300 years ago, based on radiocarbon dating. The Oregon Outback-Christmas Valley area has sand dunes, caves, and interesting geologic features like “Hole in the Ground” and “Crack in the Ground.” 800-547-7842.


Rosland Rd OHV Area
